Lasik surgery, check it out!?

In fact, I am near-sighted. I have mild myopia as my optometrist said. I heard that Lasik operations can help us see without glse as you guys. However, one of my friends has the same case and is told by a doctor that he has to constantly wear his gles for a year before having Lasik operation. Furthermore, other sites tell that a person should have his eye sight stable for like a year before he does the operation. Others,however, say that for a person to do an operation, he should only be more than 22 years old and thats it. What do you think guys? What is the right thing?
