Female betta about ready to let out eggs and male betta not finished with bubble nest?
I just got the male betta last week since the other male died (I was almost successful in making him breed...) and the female hates this male more than my last one. They are the same color but now the half moon tail male betta looks like a crowntail that got beat up. Yes I have been researching for a YEAR!!! I don't want stupid answers like "OH! You are NOT supposed to put male and female together!!!" But then how do they breed? Exactly. Long process. He's nearly finished with the bubble nest but the female seems to be beating him up harder as days p by. Unfortunately she's a bit bigger than his body alone without all his fins and tail. He chases her sometimes when he's eating but is defenseless at night when he sleeps in the cave inside the big castle. The bubble nest seems to look different since the female put a second layer of bubbles. I'm afraid I may have missed the "embrace" and need to remove the female but I still don't see rock-looking eggs in the nest so I need some help. They are in a ten gallon tank w/ a big castle with hidins inside with a big enough entrance for them, a mini castle with a mini hole that only the female can fit in without being too long, an anubia plant, a floating log, mixed up gravel with gl rocks and marbles (not the ones you can play with), 5-15 gallon tank filter and a 1-3 gallon tank filter, leaf hammock, and two halves of a styrofoam cup.
