How can I save this plant? It's a Rhoeo?

Hi, I bought a Rhoeo from walmart. I could tell my looking that it had obviously been very over watered but I though I would take it home and try to save it. I putted off as much of the rotten roots as I could, but this left it with hardly any roots at all. I also pulled off a couple of the shoots it had to it's side because each one kinda had it's own little root that looked pretty good. I put the shoots in one pot and what was left of the plant in the other. I planted them in clay pots with a sandy potting mix hoping the dryer environment will help save it. I have only watered them once since I planted them in the new pots, now the leaves are turning brown and dried up looking starting at the tips and working there was up the leaves. I don't know if it needs more water, less water, or it it's just to far gone... any advice would be great. Thanks!
