Why is Lolita considered a clic?

Since when where books sympathizing with pedophiles a clic? I know it's supposed to be well written, but why is it so raved about? If someone could explain the basic plot and is HE narrating the story? Does he get Lolita in the end? Would appreciate some help. I want to know why ppl read it even if i'm not going to myself.
