Is it rude to tell people you just had bad diarrhea?

I was at a dinner with people from my church, and I had to run to the men's room three times during the meal because I had fierce and unrelenting diarrhea. After the third time I was feeling better, but one of the other people in the group asked me in front of all the others if I was ok. I said "I had a bit of diarrhea, but I am better now." The lady asked me if I am sure everything is ok. I told her that I expelled about 1 quart of hy brownish yellow liquid from by and released substatial amounts of gas in the process. The other people at the table gave me unsettling glares and two of them excused themselves to leave. Did I do something wrong? I was asked twice, so I provided details - dit I go to far?
