Friend interested in photography, camera question...?

So my friend is an amateur photographer. She is using a Nikon D60. She has a pretty good idea of what to do as far as aperture and shutter speed in tricky light situations, and stuff like that. She is wanting to get a little bit better camera. She's trying to decide between a Canon EOS Rebel and a Nikon D3000. She asked me, and I really couldn't give her a straight answer because I know the D3000 is targeting beginners, but I also know that it has an 'advanced' mode. And I don't know anything about Canons because I don't like them... so what do I tell her? What's better for her?
